We use hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers at our Mexico medical spa. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar that is naturally found in the body that helps promote fullness and elasticity in the skin. The body stops producing its own hyaluronic acid over time, so dermal fillers take its place, filling wrinkles and furrows, adding volume, and nourishing the skin. Product formulations vary by the size of the molecule; formulations with smaller particles work well in small regions (e.g., the lips), while larger particles have more structure and are better suited for areas such as the nasolabial creases.
The hyaluronic acid in dermal fillers is eventually absorbed by the body, so treatment is not permanent. The exact length of time that the dermal filler injections will be effective for depends on the specific product, location of the injection, the particular patient, and other factors.
